ndgenius has a unique model where we gauge customer interest in a class before spending the time and resources to develop it. If you’d like to take a class that we've advertised but isn't open for enrollment yet, add your name to the list after visiting the course description, and we’ll let you know when it launches. If you want a class that's already open, simply enroll.
After enrolling, you can access your course via laptop, desktop, or mobile device. Make sure you’re logged in to your account to get access to your course.
2. What technical know-how and equipment do I need to take an online class?
You don't need much technological savvy to take an online class from ndgenius. If you know how to "surf the web" you'll be fine.
In terms of equipment, you'll need a device that connects you to the internet, and an internet connection.
For classes that include live lectures, make sure you have the following:
A mobile device or computer, preferably with an inbuilt or connected webcam and mic. If you do not have a webcam you can participate in audio-only mode. If you don't have a mic you can dial in for audio.
A recent version of a commonly-used browser. We recommend Chrome , but Firefox, Explorer, and Safari all work, too.
An operating system that supports current web applications. Operating systems up to 10 years old typically work.
A strong internet connection.
Earbuds or headphones to prevent audio echoes for any classes where you'll be participating via your computer's audio rather than dialing in.
Download the Zoom app here before joining your first live session (if joining by phone it will automatically direct you to the app store). You can also join through a browser without downloading the app, however key features such as the ability to use your webcam will not be usable. Please note that Chrome is currently the only browser that allows you to use Zoom's audio features.
3. I'm experiencing lag issues watching videos. How can I fix it?
A few things you can do to troubleshoot include:
Make sure you've closed other browser windows so they aren't competing for bandwidth.
If you're using the internet at home, are others online at the same time? The more people who are using a connection at once the slower it will be, especially if they're streaming content.
Get closer to your ISP (hub). The further away you are, the longer it takes for the data to transfer from the internet to your computer
Is your equipment current? If you have outdated equipment, or your equipment isn’t configured optimally, that can slow down how fast you receive your data.
If you've tried other solutions and you're still having issues, you may want to connect your laptop or computer directly to your router with an ethernet cable instead of using WiFi.
4. What's the difference between Classes, Master Classes, Coaching, and Onsite Classes?
Classes are largely based on pre-recorded videos/written modules and may include automated interactive elements, like quizzes. Students can access course materials as soon as they purchase the class and can generally complete classes at their own pace, although some classes are designed to drip content each day or week. There is limited or no direct contact with the instructor.
Master Classes are scheduled over the course of a number of days or weeks and involve live and/or highly interactive elements, which may include live lectures, group chats, assignments, Q & A's, and direct communication with/feedback from the instructor. Any live sessions will be viewable later for students who are unable to attend. To participate in a master class that is not currently open to enrollment, you will add your name to a wait list, complete a survey so we can identify your training needs, and be notified when enrollment opens.
Onsite Classes. Contact us if you are interested in bringing in-person training to your organization. Let us know what you’re looking for, and we’ll let you know if we can help.
Coaching. Coaching techniques and formats vary by instructor, and may include group or 1-on-1 coaching. Topics range from personal to professional development (examples: executive coaching, leadership development, career development for tribal member employees, business planning, diabetes coaching, positive parenting, health and wellness, etc.).
5. Do you offer certificates of completion? What about CEUs?
We do offer certificates of completion. In order to receive your certificate, you must complete all of the lessons in the course. We also offer CEUs for some of our courses (it will be noted in the course description if so), however you should check with your certifying body before enrolling to make sure they will accept them. We are not accredited through the International Association for Continuing Education Training (IACET) or other such organizations since the process to become accredited does not fit with our rapid development model. We do follow the generally accepted standard of one hour of instruction converting to .1 CEUs (10 hours = 1 CEU), and on request we are happy to provide you with the documentation certifying bodies typically request in deciding whether to approve CEUs: the class learning objectives, an outline of the topics covered and methods of instruction, the timeframe for the class, and the instructor bio.
6. How long do I have access to a course after purchasing it?
Your class will be accessible for a minimum of 365 days from the time of purchase for classes with open enrollment or the first day of class for classes with a set start date as long as you are in good standing, though we reserve the right to remove access to classes for policy or legal reasons.
7. Can I sample a course before buying it?
Most of our regular Classes include one or two modules that you can preview before buying. Master Classes are not pre-recorded so we cannot provide a preview of them. However, if you visit the class registration page you'll find a video of the instructor that you can watch to get a sense for his or her knowledge and style, plus one or more free resources related to the class to help you gauge what class will be like.
8. What is your refund policy?
For Master Classes, we offer a no-questions-asked refund at your request any time before the third class session begins.
For regular Classes, we offer a no-questions-asked refund at your request within 30 days of purchasing a class, as long as you have not completed more than 2 modules of the course.
9. I have an idea for a class. How can I tell you about it?
We'd love to hear your idea! Please contact us and tell us about it, including what problems the class would solve for people, and if you want to teach a course on the topic or are just recommending it as something we should cover.
We sometimes feature people who give us ideas for classes on our website or in marketing materials. Please let us know if you'd prefer that we don't feature you and we'll make sure not to.
10. How can I teach for ndgenius?
We're glad you're interested in teaching for us! Instructors are independent contractors who work on a revenue sharing basis, and have the opportunity to generate significant income. We provide ndgenius instructors with marketing, a way to host their course on a top-notch learning platform, instructional design assistance, access to a community of smart, motivated learners, and the freedom to work independently from anywhere with a reliable internet connection.
